Preaching the Gospel

Hello Fellow Crazy Lovers of Jesus!

Sorry it’s been so long since my last post; it turns out that laptops get old and stop working all of a sudden, leaving you no choice but to go and get a new one. 😛 In fact, if it had not been for the Lord’s provision, I would not have been able to obtain one so quickly, but in His infinite foreknowledge He had already provided for my need before I even knew I had a need. Praise this living One!

In addition to providing for my physical need, I experienced the Lord today as grace in the preaching of the gospel. With Christians on Campus at UC Berkeley, we like to practice preaching the gospel by means of flowing out, or speaking, to every kind of person what we have enjoyed of Christ. In such a way, man is brought to know God, see God’s desire that man receive Him as salvation and life, and be brought into the church life as the reality of the Body of Christ!

So today, we went out to proclaim this rich Christ as the gospel, yet, in terms of the ones I spoke to, not one was open at all! With a situation like this, it is very easy to be disheartened and want to give up preaching the gospel entirely, but what should our response  be as believers? We should be ones extolling the Father as the Lord did in Matthew 11:25-27! In this passage, the Lord Jesus Christ, the very God from eternity manifested in the flesh, went to several cities in order to present Himself as salvation to man, but they utterly rejected Him. If we were the Lord, we would have first complained, then cast fire down upon these cities. Thank  the Lord, however, that He is full of love, compassion, and desires all men to be saved and to come to the full knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4).

Moreover, the next section of the same chapter in Matthew 11 is what exposed me the most: in my disappointment I realized that I was toiling and was burdened! In all of His activities on the earth, the Lord Jesus took the Father as His rest in such a way that even if persecution or rejection came, His inward being was still at rest. Through this experience, I realized that I was not taking the Lord as my source even though I was doing an outwardly spiritual activity! However, the Lord, in His infinite wisdom, was faithful to show me that if I am to labor with Him for His heart’s desire, the church, I need to take Him as my everything. Hallelujah! Even in our failures the Lord is faithful to minister Himself to us as grace! May we all endeavor to take Christ as our life, letting Him live out of us so that all the glory truly goes to Him!

(Is this restful or what?)

Grace be with you from Christians on Campus at UC Berkeley 😀
