Christ Joining Himself to Mankind

Hello Fellow Crazy Lovers of Jesus!

This past Lord’s day (Sunday) I had a wonderful time sharing the Christ that I enjoyed throughout the week to all the other Christians during the prophesying meeting! Again, for those who may be reading this blog for the first time, prophesying has more meaning than to predict future events. Prophesying means to speak for God and to speak forth God to man, which was how the early believers practiced in their meetings (1 Corinthians 14). In any case, this past week we had been covering Hosea 11:1 and 4 in which we found implications, hints, of Christ in the minor prophets. I particularly enjoyed Hosea 11:1,

“When Israel was a child, I loved him, And out of Egypt I called My son”

In it of itself, this verse, which is Jehovah speaking through Hosea, seems to be only referring to the children of Israel in the Old Testament. However, we see something further when we come to the New Testament in Matthew 2:14-15,

And he [Joseph] arose and took the child and His mother [Mary] by night and departed into Egypt, And was there until the death of Herod, in order that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, “Out of Egypt I called My Son.”

These verses imply that on the one hand, Jehovah was speaking concerning the children of Israel in the Old Testament, but on the other hand, He was actually speaking concerning Christ, His Son, as a man on the earth! Thus, in order to fulfill this verse in Hosea 11:1, Christ, as the only-begotten Son of God, became a real Israelite through His incarnation. Said differently, Christ joined Himself to the children of Israel by becoming a man! This is too marvelous that God became a man, but this is only the beginning! By means of His death and resurrection, Christ became God’s firstborn Son (Acts 13:33; Romans 8:29) so that He could regenerate all of the believers through time with God’s own divine life (1 Peter 1:3)! In this way, He also joined all of the Gentile believers to Himself, which is what is spoken of in Romans 11:17 and John 15:5. Christ Himself is the cultivated olive tree and the true vine who has joined all of the believers to Himself in a living and organic way, and all of this is implied in Hosea 11:1. What an implication!!! We have to render all the praises to our dear Lord Jesus Christ who joined Himself to mankind in order to bring forth the sons of God! What a Christ!

(Christ is the real vine tree!)

In relation to the club, we’re going to be having our first COLLEGE MEETING that will be happening THIS WEDNESDAY 7-8:30pm. This a time for all the Bible study groups, and any student who wants to know more about Christ, to come together for dinner, singing, and some speaking concerning how to read and study the Bible! So come and enjoy Christ with us!

Grace be with you from Christians on Campus at UC Berkeley :D
